SAT Remote Desktop (Quick User Guide)
This guide will take you through the steps to log in to our Remote Desktop solution at SAT.
1 - Open your preferred web browser and go to the following URL: https://remote.abbeygatesfc.ac.uk (for ASFC) or https://remote.suffolkone.ac.uk (for OSFC)
You will then be presented with a login screen
2 - You need to enter the username and password that has been supplied to you and then click “Sign in”.
if you have logged into the system before please jump to step 6, otherwise, please continue
If this is the first time you have logged into the systems you will be presented with the following login box with a message saying “We couldn’t connect to the remote PC because the password associated with the user account has expired”. This is nothing to worry about we just need you to set your password from the temporary password supplied.
3 - To change your password, click “Click here to change your password”.
Once you have clicked on the link you will be re-directed to the following page.
4 - In the domain\username box input: Abbeygatesfc\Your Username (for ASFC) or Suffolkone\Your Username (for OSFC)
In the current password box: input the temporary password you have been supplied
In the new password box: chose your new password
In the confirm new password: re-enter your chosen password
Once you have inputted those details click “Submit”.
Once you have done that you should see the following screen, which will confirm that your password has been changed.
5 - Click “OK”, you will then need to go back to the following URL: https://remote.abbeygatesfc.ac.uk (for ASFC) or https://remote.suffolkone.ac.uk (for OSFC)
Once back at the login screen you will need to input your username and the new password you have just set. Once you have completed your first login you will only need to log directly in at this screen.
6 - You need to enter the username and password you have just set and then click “Sign in”.
Once you have logged in you will be presented with the following screen:
Before launching the “Full Desktop”, please click on the “Gear” on the top right of the screen. This will then pop up the following menu:
Select “Download the rpd file”
Once you have done that, then click on the “Full Desktop” icon, this will then down a file called “Full Desktop.rdp” which you can save or move to your desktop.
The file will normally be downloaded to your download’s directory. A tip, when you have saved the file it would be best to rename the file to “ASFC Remote Desktop” or “OSFC Remote Desktop”
Once you have downloaded the file, click on the file and this will launch your Remote Desktop session.
Once you have click on the file you will see the following prompt.
Click “Connect”
You will then be presented with a Windows Security box asking you to input your credentials.
For the first time that you connect you will need to set your initial connection, to do this you need to click on “More Choices”.
Select “Use a different account”.
In the username box input your username for Abbeygatesfc\Your Username (for ASFC) or Suffolkone\Your Username (for OSFC)
In the password box input your password.
You will only need to do this the first time, if you use the file you have downloaded it will remember your username and then you will just be prompted for your password.
Click “OK” and then your Remote Desktop solution will be launched.
Once your session has launched you will be presented with your desktop and the available applications and services.
